What is Balance & Stretch?

Balance & Stretch is a simple idea that can support great organizations focused on educating and motivating people to make positive choices, particularly those challenged with chronic health challenges like diabetes.

What is the offer to my organization?

We are offering:

• A Simple Message – “Balance & Stretch”. This trademark is offered to help people to retain the education offered by other non-profit organizations.
• A Powerful Symbol – a “Star”. This trademark is offered to capture the feeling of confidence and self-esteem that people should feel as they work toward good health and a full life.
• A Helpful Framework – Health and Life Star designs. This copyrighted design is offered to organize educational information and to provide a new definition of success where health and life balance are mutually reinforcing.

Why add these tools to my existing programs?

We believe the probability is HIGHER of the great education your organization being APPLIED by your clients if:

1. Retention can be improved with your clients.
2. Self-esteem and confidence can be increased in your clients.

Complex information can be organized in a way that helps your staff and others who support your clients.

How much does it cost?

We do not charge non-profit organizations to use these tools.

How do I get these toolsfor my organization?

Contact Us! We offer non-profit organizations a perpetual, no charge license to use these tools.

Who has already adopted these tools?

The tools were formally adopted by Camp Joslin in 2004, The Barton Center for Diabetes Education in 2006 and The Diabetes Education and Camping Association in 2007.

Does The Center provide products or programs based on Balance & Stretch?

To date, The Center has developed a limited number of “Success Guide” products that provide a summary of the Balance & Stretch approach. Our preference is to integrate our tools into the many great existing programs that support people provided by the non-profit community. We have also partnered with the AT-A-GLANCE® brand of the MeadWestvaco company to produce a Day Planner product that has been proven to help people manage their diabetes in an independent study.

Does The Balance & Stretch Center partner with commercial companies?

Yes. We have partnered wit the MeadWestvaco company and will look to partner with other leading commercial companies who are interested in developing products and services to help people, consistent with our mission.

Do you come and teach Balance & Stretch to my group?

No. We are interested in supporting existing non-profit organizations that are already teaching and motivating people and can integrate complementary tools like those offered by The Balance & Stretch Center.
