Welcome to Balance & Stretch

Our Mission

We share a mission with many other organizations committed to helping people make positive choices, particularly for those individuals with or trying to prevent chronic health challenges. We see daily increases in incidents of high cholesterol, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, cancer, chronic health care challenges like diabetes and observe the impacts of the increasing stress of daily life. There are certainly specific genetic issues at the root of some of the incidents of these health challenges. There is also, however, increasing acknowledgement that positive individual choices to live a balanced life style are often the best way to prevent ALL of these health challenges and always seem to be part of the prescription for treatment, when necessary. There is also increasing acknowledgement that we are facing a health care crisis.

Against this backdrop, The Balance & Stretch Center Inc. was organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes.  The Center has established a 3-part mission:

  1. To promote positive choices, particularly for those with or trying to prevent chronic health challenges.
  2. To advocate balance as a key to a healthy and full life.
  3. To encourage people to stretch for themselves and for others to reach their full potential.

In support of our mission we have developed a 3-part Strategy and set of Offers.

We continue to seek and secure partnerships that support and extend the life enhancing work that great organizations perform supporting those with health challenges to ensure that more people are positively reached faster and more fully. We are finding interest in our tools from a variety of organizations ranging from diabetes oriented organizations to others focused on cancer and cardiovascular oriented organizations. This is no surprise as these 3 diseases share common risk factors. For example, the breakthrough 2004 abstract jointly published and authored principally by Harmon Eyre, Richard Kahn and Rose Marie Robertson announced just such a collaborative initiative. Specifically, the American Diabetes Association (ADA), American Cancer Society (ACS) and the American Heart Association (AHA) banded together to address common recommendations for prevention and early detection. In fact, the joint recommendations contained in the abstract are consistent with the health portion of the framework offered by The Balance & Stretch Center. Accordingly, the Center remains open to support any non profit organization that could utilize our assets to help people.
